Class Description
Learn a variety of quilting techniques as you make these blocks for your sampler quilt. Learn how to combine fabrics, and to measure, cut, and sew for precision and attractiveness.
Teacher Bio
Becky Szeles is a nationally recognized quilter and a proud mother of three grown children. Her husband, Dave, is a pilot for United Airlines, who she met during her service in the United States Air Force. She is an eight-year veteran who, as she built her career and family, rediscovered a love for quilting that she first witnessed in her upbringing. Her mother, a quilter since the 50’s, instilled in her an appreciation for creativity, self-reliance and expression. She has carried that on in the last six years by sharing her love of quilting with other through teaching.

Rotary cutter
Cutting mat
Rotary cutting ruler (transparent acrylic ruler to use with cutter and mat)
Straight pins
Scissors
Seam ripper
Pencil
Thread – neutral color, all sewing, cotton or polyester
Sewing machine
Fabric
1 1/2 yards of focus fabric (multi-color, but avoid large print and directional fabrics)
1/2 yard neutral background (make sure it coordinates with the focus fabric)
1/4 to 1/2 yard of two or three coordinating fabrics in a medium, light or dark color
1 1/2 yards for backing
1 yard of batting
1/2 yard for binding
